The high voltage DC power supply that will be used to charge the capacitor bank, to drive the klystron in the photo-injector project, is a Hipotronics 850-500 and is shown above.
The output of the high voltage control supply (left-picture) is fed directly into the high voltage DC step-up transformer (right-picture) with a turns ratio of 1:100. The maximum voltage on the primary side of the transformer is 500V resulting in 50 KVDC on the secondary. This supply is capable of delivering up to 500 mADC of current.
The output of the step-up transformer will charge the capacitors in the pulse forming network to a voltage of 44 KVDC through a charging resistor of 80.3K ohms.
