The copper plate off to the right of the screen is connected to the cathode of the Thyratron and will be connected to the primary side of the 1:15 step-up pulse transformer by a triax cable. This 750 MW Thyratron has two gradient grids and a control grid. The control grid of the thyratron requires a 2µs pulse width, with a peak voltage amplitude between 1KV-4KV. For this experiment a LLNL 3KV High Voltage Pulse Generator is employed, driven by a TTL Delay Pulse Generator set to a repetition rate of 1 Hz.
